HD-TVI cameras are a type of analog high definition CCTV security camera (megapixel video over coaxial cabling / HD over coax) that supports up to 1080p video resolution.
HDCVI is a little different from other analog and HD type cameras. Unlike other variations, you'll find that in most cases, you'll need to be using solid copper RG59 Siamese cable. Why? Well, it's because HDCVI cameras are capable of transmitting video up to 1600 feet. Let that sink in for a moment. Gone are the days of being limited to runs up to 300 feet with standard analog and other HD cameras.
An Internet Protocol camera, or IP camera, is a type of digital video camera that receives control data and sends image data via an IP network. They are commonly used for surveillance but unlike analog closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, they require no local recording device, only a local area network.
IP based CCTV cameras have the following advantages: Better image/video resolution. IP cameras are not limited by the outdated analog TV video standard (such as NTSC/PAL). Easier to wire / install: Analog cameras usually require coax and power cables, IP cameras can support WiFi and PoE.
If video surveillance is required in locations that include bright lights and dark shadows, the equipment used is crucial. Do you have a door that needs to be monitored from the inside but has bright sunlight most of the day? A common problem in warehouses, offices and retail environments, the solution is to use a camera with Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) that balance bright and dark areas to ensure the best quality video without the white wash seen on many surveillance systems.
A digital video recorder is an electronic device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card, SSD or other local or networked mass storage device. The term includes set-top boxes with direct to disk recording, portable media players and TV gateways with recording capability, and digital camcorders. Personal computers are often connected to video capture devices and used as DVRs; in such cases the application software used to record video is an integral part of the DVR.
A network video recorder is a specialized computer system that includes a software program that records video in a digital format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card or other mass storage device. An NVR contains no dedicated video capture hardware. However, the software is typically run on a dedicated device, usually with an embedded operating system. Alternatively, to help support increased functionality and serviceability, standard operating systems are used with standard processors and video management software. An NVR is typically deployed in an IP video surveillance system.
PTZ cameras can improve the quality of the video desired in critical environments. Large parking areas, marinas, retailers, banks, casinos and manufacturing all require the ability to view images close up. When using optical zoom, you can collect detailed video images that can possibly be used as evidence of theft and other malicious activity. PTZ cameras are also ideal when monitoring a wider field of view and many have the capability to zoom in over a mile away.
